Position Summary
RST Engineering is currently seeking a Structural Technical Lead Engineer to join our multidisciplined engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible to:
- Provide leadership, mentoring, guidance and technical expertise to the project team
- Guide the overall technical design of various engineering projects in varying sectors
- Act as Project Manager being the key liaison with our client on associated projects.
- Develop scopes of work and project estimates
- Develop engineering estimates and proposals for submission to clients
- Streel member analysis, sizing, and design including connections with the ability to handle complex structures
- Concrete and rebar foundation designs
- Piling design
- Design of platforms, stairs, and ladders
- Analysis and design of lifting apparatus (monorail, lifting lugs, etc.)
- Structural analysis using structural analysis software (Risa experience is preferred)
- Generate technical documents, reports, analysis, calculations, design reviews as part of individual project scopes
- Collaborate with the project team comprised of multidiscipline engineers, project managers, designers, and others, to develop drawings and specifications
- Perform inspections and develop remediation plans as necessary
- Ensure completion of work within allotted schedules and budgets while ensuring high-quality standards are maintained
- Proactively resolve performance, scope, and schedule issues with the PMs as they arise
- Offer support, mentoring, and guidance to other structural team members
- Direct the detail design for projects
- Develop and maintain positive, sustainable client relationships.
- Grow a complementary team of structural engineers and designers that provide technical expertise across a variety of complex multi-discipline industrial engineering studies and detail design projects.
- Support the business in delivering cost-effective and right size solutions to our clients
- Monitor project metrics and make adjustments as required
Position Requirements
Key Requirements
- 10+ years’ experience in execution of mining, energy, and infrastructure projects preferably in a consulting environment
- Experience executing projects in various stages (feasibility, FEED, detailed engineering, construction and commissioning)
- Strong understanding of RISA 3D
- Experience analyzing steel and concrete structures
- Experience designing piling
- Experience in Industrial facilities regarding structural components within
- Experience with shop drawing reviews
- Familiarity with North American industry design codes (i.e. ACI, AISC, IBC, ASCB, etc.)
- Experience in personnel development, mentoring and development
- Very strong communication skills (verbal and written), and strong collaboration skills with other team members and clients in a multi-disciplined environment
- Strong skills experience in a Project Management Role
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience with project development and execution in an industrial environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering
- Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Saskatchewan
- Competent in RISA 3D
- Design and field experience in the industrial, commercial, and infrastructure environments
- Technical competency
- PMP Designation is an asset
